LAHORE, Nov 28 (APP): Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan has said that the government is contemplating to grant affiliated college status to the
controversial Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), Lahore sub-campus to save one academic year of the students.
Talking to the media men here on Saturday, he said boys and girl students are innocent and they will not be made to suffer academically and financially.To a question, the provincial Minister said the elements responsible for irregularities in the grant of BZU sub-campus
at Lahore will be taken to task as per the law. He said the grant of college status will save a precious academic year of the students To another query, he said all out measures were being taken for resolving the issues of Lahore Campus of BZU,Multan, adding that on the direction of Chief Minister, a committee comprising senior officials of Education Department
has been constituted which is considering all aspects for resolving the issue.
Responding to a question, Mashhood said 11 such cases besides BZU Lahore Campus are being investigated which have been set up in violation of rules and regulations of HEC
Punjab. About the Higher Education, he said Punjab government is paying full attention to higher education, adding that 37 new degree colleges are being set up throughout the province whereas provision of missing facilities in existing 58 colleges is on the basic agenda list of the department this year.
Replying to another question, Provincial Education Minister said Chief Minister Punjab has allocated a huge amount of 21 billion rupees for completion of Lahore Knowledge
Park which reflects his interest in the promotion of higher education.
