RAWALPINDI, Dec 6 (APP): Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Tuesday visited the Headquarters of Southern Command of Pakistan Army in Quetta.

Soon after his arrival at the headquarters, the COAS laid a wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada to acknowledge the sacrifices of all martyrs, who laid their lives for the motherland.

Later, the COAS visited Southern Command Headquarters, where he
was briefed in detail about the operational preparedness of the command, overall security situation in Balochistan and ongoing stabilization operations.

The COAS commended army, Frontier Corps, and law enforcement and intelligence agencies for noticeable improvement in law and order in the province.

He particularly lauded support and sacrifices of the people of Balochistan for restoration of peace in the province.

Appreciating the integrated approach adopted by army and civil government for security and development, the COAS said army will render all necessary assistance to the provincial government for restoration of peace in the province, capacity building of the law enforcement agencies and by providing security for all projects in the remote areas.

He vowed zero tolerance against terrorism and directed to undertake focused and indiscriminate operations against terrorists of all kind in coordination with intelligence and other law enforcement agencies.

The COAS commended Frontier Works Organization and National Logistics Cell for developing a road network in the province, and stressed the need to further accelerating development projects to ensure greater connectivity for the masses.

The COAS expressed the resolve to ensure foolproof security arrangements for the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Upon arrival the COAS was received by Commander Southern Command, Lt Gen Aamer Riaz.
