COAS visits Corps, Rangers HQs Karachi

RAWALPINDI, Dec 14 (APP): Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General
Qamar Javed Bajwa Wednesday visited Corps Headquarters and Rangers Headquarters Karachi.
The COAS was given detailed briefing about operational preparedness
of the formation and security situation in Sindh particularly Karachi.
“Overall accomplishments of the operation so far and way forward
remained focus of the briefing,” an Inter Services Public Relations
(ISPR) press release issued here said.
The COAS commended army, Rangers, law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and othe intelligence agencies for noticeable improvement in the law and order.
He said Karachi was economic hub of the country and security in the
metropolitan had direct impact on overall business climate and economic
activities of the entire country.
The COAS emphasized that all out efforts would be made to
consolidate gains made so far during operation and indiscriminately eliminate remnants of terrorists with their sleeper cells.
General Qamar Javed Bajwa particularly lauded support and
sacrifices of people of Karachi in this journey towards peace.
He said gains of operations would not be allowed to be reversed and
the operations would continue till attainment of sustainable peace.
He directed a focused and synergised effort of all military and civil
intelligence agencies for optimum effects to pre-empt potential threats to peace of Karachi.
The COAS said Pakistan army would render all necessary assistance
to the provincial government for capacity building and training of LEAs for long term effectiveness against organised crime and enduring peace for the city.
Earlier on arrival at the Corps HQs, the COAS was received by Corps
Commander Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar.
