CMU strengthens TB diagnosis services

The Common Management Unit (CMU), Ministry of National Health Services, has continued to strengthen tuberculosis (TB) diagnosis and treatment services through improved diagnostic facilities and timely testing.

ISLAMABAD, Oct 09 (APP): The Common Management Unit (CMU), Ministry of National Health Services, has continued to strengthen tuberculosis (TB) diagnosis and treatment services through improved diagnostic facilities and timely testing.
In collaboration, the PNS Hafeez Hospital, Islamabad, and the CMU have established a Basic Management Unit (BMU) and installed a GeneXpert system to facilitate rapid TB testing and support timely treatment.
The newly established facility will provide rapid molecular testing, including the detection of rifampicin resistance, helping healthcare professionals identify drug-resistant TB and make appropriate treatment decisions.
The initiative is expected to improve access to TB screening and diagnostic services, enabling early identification of cases and prompt clinical intervention.
The collaboration reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen TB patient management, expand access to quality diagnostic facilities and support Pakistan’s national TB control priorities.
The initiative also highlights the importance of modern diagnostic technology and institutional collaboration in improving TB detection, treatment outcomes and disease control.
