CM says Swat motorway to revolutionize tourism potential of KP, inaugurates south tunnel of mega project

PESHAWAR, Sep 17 (APP):Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan Monday inaugurated the south tunnel of mega project Swat motorway at Zulam Kot near Chakdara in Dir District, saying the project to revolutionize the tourism potential of the province.
The previous government of PTI had initiated work on this project costing Rs 34 billion. Up to Katlang, 50 KM road has been completed and by December, the work up to Chakdara would be completed and would be open for traffic.
He was addressing inaugural function of the tunnel of Swat Motorway mega project at Zulam Kot.
He said it was a project bringing revolution in the promotion of tourism and trade in the entire Malakand division and after completion it would open up new vistas of development in the area.
The Chief Minister inspected the roads right from Karnal Sher Khan Interchange to Bakhshali road and had an aerial view from Bakhshali to Zulam Kot.
DG FWO briefed the Chief Minister on the progress so far made on the mega Swat motorway project.
The Chief Minister directed for timely completion of the project with focus on quality of work adding that by December, the motorway should be ready for all traffic.
He said it is a unique project, the provincial government has initiated and will complete it out of its own resources.
This project will make the entire Malakand division, the centre of tourism related activities and would open up new vistas of development.
The 80 KM long mega project would have seven interchanges right from Karnal Sher Khan Interchange to Chakdara.
This would also develop and upgrade services in the hitherto dozens of backward villages in the area.
Mahmood Khan thanked the people for giving land for the construction of motorway and assured that the land acquisition money would soon be given to the land owners whose land acquired for the motorway.
It is a project of public welfare, public development and public prosperity which would usher in a new era of development of the entire Malakand adding that his government would never compromise on the development and prosperity of the people and removing their deprivation.
He also planted a sapling of Deodar and directed the relevant department to launch tree plantation on both sides of the motorway. He also directed to start construction of rest areas, mosques and markets on the allocated points of the motorway.
Mahmood Khan assured for the accelerated completion of Peshawar Metreo adding that there were some issues that partially delayed the timely completion of the project.
It is our endeavour to timely complete the Peshawar Metro which is actually a project for the beautification of the whole of the city.
