CM reviews measures taken under National Action Plan

LAHORE, Jan 4 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting here Monday to review overall law and order situation in the province and measures taken for the implementation of National Action Plan.

The meeting expressed satisfaction over the steps taken under National Action Plan against terrorism and resolved to root out terrorism, extremism and sectarianism from the province.

Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that effective measures were being taken under National Action Plan in Punjab for the eradication of terrorism, extremism and sectarianism.

He said that laws have been made more effective while punishments have been made more stringent for curbing terrorism, extremism and sectarianism.

He said that steps taken under National Action Plan are yielding positive results.  He said that there was no room for terrorism, extremism, intolerance and religious hatred in Quaid e Azam’s Pakistan and every effort would be made for eliminating the collusion between terrorists and their facilitators.

Shehbaz Sharif said that terrorists and their facilitators would be rooted out from the country and the promise of setting
up of a peaceful society would be fulfilled at any cost.

The Chief Minister issued instructions for further improving security arrangements for the protection of life and property of citizens and said that all necessary steps should be taken for maintaining an atmosphere of peace.

He directed police to perform its duties with commitment, efficiency and hard work for curbing criminal elements.

The meeting was given a briefing on the measures taken under National Action Plan in the province for ensuring law and order.

Provincial Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah, Special Assistant Rana Maqbool Ahmed, Chief Secretary Khizar Hayat Gondal, Inspector General Police, Secretary Home and senior police officials attended the meeting.
