CM promises to make Rawalpindi model city

RAWALPINDI, Apr 12 (APP):The inaugural ceremony of the the Government Postgraduate College for Women, Station road
and giving the status of University to Govt Postgraduate college for women 6th road were held here Friday.

Addressing a ceremony held in connection with the groundbreaking, Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar said providing quality education and health facilities to the residents of the province was the top priority of the Pakistan Tehreek Insaf government.

He said that women education was vital for the development of any nation and Punjab government was being set up another women university to make the girls of this region empowered.

CM said Rawalpindi was his own city after Dera Ghazi Khan and now Rawalpindi would have second University after Fatima Jinnah University.

On the occasion, Usman announced that Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology would be upgraded to the Cardiac Vascular disease center while Rs 50 billion would be spent on the construction of Rawalpindi Ring road project.

He said Institute of Kidney Transplant would be completed soon while to overcome the flood like situation in monsoon and to decrease the traffic load on city roads, work on Leh expressway to be kicked off shortly.

Buzdar said to make the city more beautiful, funds have been transferred to Parks and Horticulture Authority and city to have a new look when he would return to city again.

The chief minister said, “You are the guarantee of the bright future of Pakistan and you will make the country great and greater. It’s our job to provide the best resources and we will continue doing this job’’.

He said powers would be transferred at grass root level and local bodies act would be presented in the next assembly session for approval.

Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister for Railway Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed lauded the CM for allocating funds for Rawalpindi on his request and said under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan Rawalpindi would be made more developed city of the country.

On the occasion Sheikh Rasheed announced to donate the Lal Havelli to the newly upgraded Women University.

The Minister said, our future linked with the educated mothers and if we do not educate women, our future will be dark as an educated mother can bring up their children in a better way”.

Federal Minister for Health Amir Kiani, Provincial Ministers Bashrat Raja, Raja Yasir Hummyon, Raja Rashid Hafeez, Principal Govt College Dr. Aliya Sohail were also present on the occasion.
