In a message, she paid tribute to healthcare professionals and all those working for the treatment and support of brain tumor patients, describing the disease as a silent but devastating condition. She emphasized that raising public awareness about brain tumors was of utmost importance, as timely diagnosis and treatment remained key to ensuring a healthy life.
The chief minister said brain tumors posed not only a medical challenge for patients and healthcare providers but also an emotional and psychological trial for families.
She stressed that public awareness was the strongest weapon against such silent diseases, adding that greater understanding of early diagnosis and treatment options could help control the disease and save lives.
CM Maryam Nawaz said early detection and prompt medical intervention were essential to preventing complications and reducing mortality associated with brain tumors. She said Pakistan’s first government-run Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital would serve as a beacon of hope for brain tumor patients, adding that free treatment would be provided to cancer patients at all stages of the disease at the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer.
The chief minister further said the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer and Research Centre would soon become fully functional. Under the “Healthy Punjab” vision, she added, the provincial government was ensuring the availability of the best treatment facilities for brain tumors and other neurological disorders in public hospitals across Punjab.
