CM chairs high level meeting to discuss development strategy for merged districts

PESHAWAR, Jan 10 (APP):Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mahmood Khan presided over a high level meeting to discuss multi sectoral developmental strategy for the newly merged districts of the erstwhile FATA here at CM Secretariat on Thursday.The meeting focused on different developmental schemes in education, health, sports, tourism, local government, energy etc sectors and made a number of decisions for accelerated mainstreaming of newly opened areas and the welfare of the people of these areas. The meeting directed for re-deployment of doctors within the pool of doctors in the province, recruiting fresh doctors and medical and auxiliary
staff for the seven new District Head Quarters Hospital of the erstwhile FATA and the provision of healthcare and medicines on emergency basis. It was decided that attractive packages would be given to the doctors to be recruited and deployed in the newly merged districts.
The participants of the meeting directed relevant departments to prepare their plans for meeting the futuristic needs of these areas. The meeting asked the department to prepare a comprehensive design of facilities and process of implementation.
The Chief Minister directed that all developmental and welfare activities should be undertaken under timelines and another meeting would review the pace of progress on different schemes in the merged districts within two weeks. Mahmood Khan directed to sketch out a plan for the conduction of local government election as per constitution and law of the land in order to empower the people at grass roots level and resolve their problems through the local government system
He directed to recruit doctors, teachers and other required staff in the health and education institutions under contractual arrangements and assured the government would give relaxation for the accelerated and efficient service delivery and mainstreaming of the seven new districts. He also directed for data
collection of needs and requirements and the facilities already available in these areas in order to plan and execute the next phase of development in these areas.
The Chief Minister directed to immediately recruit doctors and other staff in the seven District Head Quarter Hospitals of newly merged seven districts and arrange resources for the procurement of medicines etc. He also directed all the departments to undertake the recruitment process and get approval for the fresh posts and assured his government would give relaxation in age, education qualification where necessary. He said that the government would work out a transparent mechanism for efficient utilization of resources for the expeditious mainstreaming of tribal areas and giving relief to people of these areas.
Mahmood Khan asked heads of all departments to plan network of universities, colleges and schools so that these projects could be pushed into the implementation phase. He assured to give a quality governance system to the tribal areas where decisions would be made on merit. He also directed to introduce Mobile Healthcare facilities in the remote areas of the newly merged districts. He should be
constantly informed of the implementation process. 	He also constituted a committee to be headed by Chief Secretary with IG and other members for recruitment and deployment of police and other
officials in the newly merged districts.
The meeting was informed about the extension of the Independent Monitoring Unit (IMU) to the erstwhile FATA and that staffing of the unit would be completed within two weeks.
The meeting decided to recruit the youth of the tribal areas against the sanctioned and newly created posts in the seven new districts and the launch of sports and culture activities soon. It was decided to provide Rs. one billion for the self employment scheme for the youth of the erstwhile FATA. 2500 posts have been advertised for fresh requirement in education sector and different scholarships
were being introduced there.
The meeting held out assurance to repair and renovate the Higher Secondary schools in the newly merged districts. Solarization of mosques, worship places of minority and healthcare institutions was also decided. The meeting stressed the need for the creation of 16000 new vacancies of different categories for newly constructed and rehabilitated schools of the war hit areas.
Provincial Ministers Muhammad Atif Khan, Shahram Khan Tarakai, Taimur Saleem Jhagra, Hasham Inamullah, Akbar Ayub, Sultan Muhammad Khan, Special Assistant to CM on education Ziaullah Bangash, Chief Secretary Naveed Kamran Baloch, Inspector General Police Salahuddin Mehsud, Advocate General KP, administrative secretaries and concerned attended the meeting.
