QUETTA, Mar 28 (APP):Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan on Thursday said there was a need to decentralize the powers and transfer the supremacy of decision-making to the lower divisional and district level.
The centralization of power was hindering the fast course of resolving public problems, while departments and institutions leaving behind big issues remain entangled in small matters.
The CM expressed these views while talking to the members of the Parliamentary Task Force on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), who met him here under the leadership of the Chairman of the Committee MNA Riaz Ahmed Fatyana.
The delegation included Members of National Assembly Rubina Irfan, Manawra Munir, Agha Hassan Baloch and others.
During the meeting, the delegates discussed various points of sustainable development goals included in the Unites Nations’ agenda.
The CM, while giving Balochistan’s example, said it was a widespread province where the ratio of poverty was higher than other provinces and poor citizens had no access to the supreme dynasties.
In view of this situation, the current provincial government had adopted the policy of transition of powers to lower levels of executives.
“From the recruitment to the process of development all decisions would be taken at lower level, this will produce erudition of empowerment and partnership in general public”, the CM said.
The CM said change of the system was not easy, it could be transformed through good governance only. The people were well aware now, they could not be satisfied with false slogans and politics of showoff,” he added.
The CM said that PSDP was a source of social development, but unfortunately the way PSDP was structured in the past, it was not beneficial for the people.
The chief minister said in order to achieve sustainable development goals strategic planning should be done conferring public needs. Provision of basic life facilities to the public was a big challenge, for which present system need to be restructured, he added.
The CM said the incumbent government was giving special attention to the improvement of education, health, infrastructure and governance.
He said that for the protection of basic human rights, existing legislations, rules and regulations and frameworks have to be improved.
He said that despite constructing large university campuses, increasing number and quality of small campuses would be beneficial for provision of standard education.
The chairman of committee, while supporting the opinions of the CM, said that Balochistan was an important province due to presence of natural resources and will soon develop under the dynamic leadership of CM Jam Kamal Khan.
He said sustainable development goals include elimination of poverty, improvement of drainage system, upsurge of health, education and other social facilities, protecting human rights and admittance to justice.
He further said that there was a social connection between the government and the public, social and political justice is the right of the people.
He said that sustainable development goals will be achieved by 2030 for which the established parliamentary task force is doing its job efficiently and embraces cooperation of provincial governments as well.
