ISLAMABAD, Jan 03 (APP): Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi on Friday appreciated the Punjab Government’s commitment to ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply to district courts across the province, terming it vital for timely justice delivery and public confidence in the judicial system.
The remarks were made while he chaired a high-level meeting in Lahore to review judicial infrastructure reforms, with special focus on sustainable and reliable power supply for district courts.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court, Chief Secretary Punjab, Secretary Finance, Secretary Energy, Member Planning, Secretary Social Welfare, and other senior government officials.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary Punjab assured that the provincial government would ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to courts throughout Punjab. He added that in areas where continuous grid supply could not be guaranteed, solar energy solutions would be provided to ensure smooth functioning of court operations.
The Chief Justice appreciated the proactive approach of the Punjab Government, observing that reliable energy infrastructure was essential for institutional efficiency, continuity of judicial services, and strengthening public trust in the justice system.
He noted that solarization of district courts would not only enhance court functionality but also promote sustainability, resilience, and long-term cost efficiency. The Chief Justice emphasized that meaningful judicial reforms required close coordination between the judiciary and the executive.
The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to swiftly implement the proposed measures to improve access to justice and strengthen institutional governance across the province.
