Chinese media delegation visits APP headquarters

ISLAMABAD, Oct 22 (APP):A group of delegates from Chinese mainstream media on Monday visited the headquarters of Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) here, and discussed ways and means to expand cooperation with the premium news agency.
The delegation led by Deputy Director China Central Television Zhang Shilei took round of different sections of the organization and received briefing on its functioning.
APP Executive Director Akhtar Munir apprised the delegation about the organization’s structure and its role.
The delegation members, who are visiting Pakistan under the Cooperation and Communication Programme of Chinese Media, were informed that APP was the premier news agency of Pakistan with a charter to provide accurate, objective and uninterrupted flow of news to the people.
Akhtar Munir said the wire service was at the forefront in timely informing the people about the happenings around, building Pakistan’s narrative and portraying its true image globally.
The Director News, in a detailed briefing, told the delegation that the organization had been providing multilingual news service in English, Urdu, Sindhi, Siraiki, Pushto, Arabic, Balochi and Brahvi, besides the photo and video news services.
He said besides its headquarters in the federal capital, the Associated Press of Pakistan had bureaus and stations in major cities of the country. For its international coverage, the agency had foreign correspondents in various countries, including China.
The Director News said the organization had been working with a mandate to contribute towards promoting the country’s image and highlight its stance on national and regional issues in their true perspective.
He said APP had news exchange agreements with many foreign news agencies under which important text, photo and visual news services were exchanged daily.
Its web service, he said, had been disseminating news of various fields, including politics, sports, culture, health, education, parliamentary coverage etc..
The delegation members agreed to enhance cooperation between APP and their respective organizations. They also extended cooperation offer of Chinadaily.com.cn to APP.
Director Information Technology APP Muhammad Ghawas Khan was also present on the occasion.
The two-day visit of media delegates to Pakistan has been planned by the Publicity Department of Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee as part of its efforts to promote media cooperation and communication in the frame of “Belt and Road”.
The delegation members included Deputy Director China Central Television Zhang Shilei, Deputy Director China Radio International Chen Peng, Deputy Editor-in-Chief China Daily Website Zhang Chunyan, Deputy Director Chinanews Website Tao Guangxiong, Deputy Editor-in-Chief Xinhua Net Lie Jiawen, Editor-in-Chief People’s Daily Website Yu Qingchu, Deputy Director of Press Bureau, Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, Wen Ge, Investigator Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, Man Bin, Member of Press, Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee Ren Meng and member of Press, Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee Peng Fei.
