Chinese delegation visits APP Headquarters to explore collaboration in trainings, exchange programmes

ISLAMABAD, Oct 18 (APP):A delegation of Academy of Contemporary China & World Studies (ACCWS) from China visited the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) Headquarters here on Saturday, where it was briefed about the working of the state news agency and the prospects for mutual collaboration in training and exchange programmes.
The delegation comprised Editor-in-Chief of China International Communications Group (CICG) Gao Anming, Vice President Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies, Liu Li from CICG and Guo Jiayue from ACCWS.
Director News APP Shumaila Andleeb briefed the delegation about APP’s extensive editorial network, comprising its headquarters in Islamabad, regional bureaus, stations, foreign correspondents and a wide pool of part-time reporters across the country.
She mentioned APP’s role in highlighting the strong Pakistan-China relations rooted in strategic and mutual trust, and the projects including China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Director Urdu News Service Abdul Hameed Tabassum, Director Diplomatic Ali Raza Alvi and senior journalists of APP gave their input about the significance of active engagement between APP and the Chinese media and training organizations in view of strengthening people-to-people contacts.
CICG Editor-in-Chief Gao Anming said founded in 1949, the CICG was one of China’s most prominent international communications organizations. It comprised 21 subsidiaries, two overseas national associations, and maintained 26 overseas branches in 14 countries and regions. He said CICG was playing a leading role in introducing China’s development to the world, strengthening international exchanges, and advancing people-to-people connectivity.
Vice President ACCWS Fan Daqi expressed his intent to strengthen cooperation with APP in areas of research, international exchanges and intercultural communication.
The Chinese delegation toured various sections of APP including the China News Desk where it was briefed that the section was disseminating news items in Chinese language with a focus on highlighting the strategic ties between the two countries.
The visit was organized by Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies (IPDS), an Islamabad think-tank, working on advancing diplomacy, peace and security through research, advocacy and leadership training. IPDS President Dr Farhat Asif and Director Asif Noor accompanied the delegation.
