Chief Minister launches digital policing initiatives in KP

PESHAWAR, Jun 18 (APP):Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi on Thursday inaugurated multiple digital policing initiatives, including the Police Sahulat Markaz (PSM) App, aimed at improving public access to police services and enhancing transparency, efficiency and accountability in the policing system across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Addressing a ceremony, the Chief Minister said the government was utilizing modern technology to make police services more citizen-friendly and easily accessible.
He directed the authorities concerned to launch an effective awareness campaign regarding the use of digital police services.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated the Kinetic Police Action Dashboard, which according to a briefing will facilitate real-time monitoring, province-wide reporting and speedy implementation of operations and services.
Officials informed the meeting that an online FIR registration system had been activated across the province, while an online complaint management system had also been introduced enabling citizens to register complaints through toll-free numbers, WhatsApp, Facebook, SMS and other communication platforms.
The briefing further stated that a “Talash Gumshuda Portal” had been launched for tracing and recovering missing children, while victims of gender-based violence would also be able to lodge complaints online.
A “Pink Button” feature has also been introduced to provide immediate assistance to women and children during emergencies.
Citizens will additionally be able to obtain police character and clearance certificates through online systems with biometric verification and digital payment facilities, while the process of obtaining and renewing driving licences has also been simplified.
Chief Minister Sohail Afridi termed the initiatives a significant step towards delivering police services at people’s doorsteps and directed authorities to ensure effective implementation of all newly launched digital systems.
