LAHORE, Oct 20 (APP): Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan Hafiz
Hafeez-ur-Rehman met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, here on Thursday.

Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan congratulated Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on his unopposed election as President Pakistan Muslim League-N Punjab.

He commended the abilities of Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on completing public welfare projects in a record period and said that public service of Shehbaz Sharif was unprecedented.

He thanked Shehbaz Sharif on cooperation by the Punjab government in education, health, technical training and other social sectors.

He also thanked the Chief Minister on provision of medicines and said that the Punjab government had always supported people of Gilgit Baltistan.

He said that provision of special quota and scholarships for the boy and girl students of Gilgit Baltistan in educational institutions and medical  colleges of Punjab was highly valuable.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said, “People of Gilgit Baltistan are our brothers and sisters and the Punjab government will continue its cooperation in education, health and other sectors.”

He said that special quota had been fixed for boy and girl students of Gilgit Baltistan in educational institutions and medical colleges of Punjab and special scholarships were being given to them for higher education.

He said that the Punjab government would provide CT Scan machine to Gilgit Baltistan government. These steps of the Punjab government had resulted in promotion of brotherhood, unity and harmony, he added.

Shehbaz Sharif said that service to the people was his mission and politics of service was the pivot of Pakistan Muslim League-N. He said, “Protection of interests of Pakistan is top priority and we all have to work jointly for the progress and prosperity of the country.”

He said that earlier, some elements failed to mislead the people for their personal interests and they would meet the same fate in future as well.

He said that these elements had been defeated in local bodies elections, Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Kashmir and bye-elections after general elections.

He said that sit-in politics damaged the country’s economy in 2014.

He said that talking to lockdown Islamabad was a conspiracy to stop the journey of progress of the country and prosperity of the people.

He said that now conscious people would not allow anyone to create hurdles in the journey of prosperous Pakistan.

Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan was making speedy progress under the  leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and the destiny of the country was going to change in next 18 months. Darkness would be removed and Pakistan would achieve its lost status in the comity of nations, he added.

He said that all projects in the country including Metro Bus,
Lahore Orange Line Metro Train, Safe City Project, energy projects and all other development projects were unprecedented with regard to transparency.

He said that all conspiracies aimed at stopping development process and lock downing Islamabad would be failed.
