Chief Adviser sends letter thanking Jamaat Ameer

DHAKA, Feb 15 (BSS/APP): Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has sent a letter to Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman expressing gratitude for his party’s role in the 13th national parliamentary election.

The information was disclosed by Mujibul Alam, senior assistant secretary of the party’s central publicity department.

He said Chief Adviser Prof Yunus personally phoned Jamaat Ameer Dr Rahman at around 12:45 pm today and conveyed his gratitude. Later, a representative of the Chief Adviser formally handed over the letter to the Jamaat Ameer.

In the letter, the Chief Adviser wrote, “I extend my sincere gratitude to you for the active and extensive participation of your party candidates under your leadership in the 13th National Parliamentary Election, for their firm contest, and for accepting the election results in a calm and dignified manner.”

Referring to Jamaat’s role during the election period, he said, “From the campaign phase to the post-result period, your political decorum, restraint, responsible statements and calls to party activists for peaceful conduct have played a special role in maintaining overall stability in the country. I also express special thanks for the constructive support, advice and cooperation your party extended during the tenure of the interim government.”
