Chehlum procession moves along traditional routes, DC reviews arrangements

ISLAMABAD, Aug 03 (APP):Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Memon reviewed security, traffic and administrative arrangements for the Chehlum mourning procession, while all Assistant Commissioners provided individual briefings on preparations and route management.
Authorities said real-time monitoring is being carried out through Safe City and CCTV cameras to ensure smooth movement of the procession and maintain public safety.
The Chehlum mourning procession in the federal capital continued along its traditional routes under a security plan put in place by the district administration and law enforcement agencies.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Memon visited various procession routes to assess on-ground arrangements and review measures taken for the event. During the visit, he examined security deployment, traffic flow, parking facilities and other administrative arrangements to ensure that all plans were being implemented effectively.
Deputy Commissioner received separate briefings from all Assistant Commissioners regarding the management of procession routes, crowd handling measures and coordination among different departments. Officials informed him about the steps taken to facilitate participants and maintain order throughout the event.
Speaking during the visit, Irfan Memon said that extensive security arrangements had been made for the Chehlum procession. He stated that district administration teams, Islamabad Police and other relevant departments were working in coordination to ensure the peaceful conduct of the gathering.
He said the procession was being monitored in real time through the Safe City surveillance system and CCTV cameras installed at key locations. The monitoring process allows authorities to track movement along the routes and respond quickly to any situation if required.
During the inspection, the Deputy Commissioner also met personnel of Islamabad Police and other law enforcement agencies deployed on duty. He reviewed their operational readiness and discussed measures aimed at maintaining security and facilitating participants.
Irfan Memon appreciated the performance and commitment of officers and personnel performing duties during the Chehlum procession. He acknowledged their efforts in implementing security measures, managing traffic and supporting administrative operations.
The district administration said monitoring of the procession and related arrangements would continue throughout the event to ensure public safety and smooth movement along designated routes.
