Chairman Senate offers condolences on demise of former President Liamine Zeroual

ISLAMABAD, Apr 02 (APP): Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, visited the Embassy of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria in Islamabad to offer his heartfelt condolences on the passing of former President, Liamine Zeroual.
The Chairman of the Senate was received by Dr Brahim Romani, the Ambassador of Algeria in Pakistan.
Expressing profound grief, the Chairman of the Senate conveyed his sympathies on behalf of the people of Pakistan, the Senate of Pakistan, and on his own behalf, to the Government and people of Algeria as well as to the bereaved family.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Senate said, “It is with profound sorrow that I have learnt of the passing of Liamine Zeroual, former President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria. President Zeroual was a statesman of great dignity, wisdom and resolve. Pakistan deeply values its historic and brotherly relations with Algeria. As a great friend and supporter of Pakistan, former President Zeroual strengthened these ties, rooted in shared ideals, mutual respect and common aspirations.”
The Chairman of the Senate also recorded his condolences in the condolence book placed at the embassy.
Ambassador to the ISC and Advisor to the Chairman of the Senate Misbah Khar was also present on the occasion. She also expressed her condolences.
