ISLAMABAD, Aug 17 (APP):Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Babar Saleem Swati on Monday called on Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani at his residence in Ministers’ Enclave, Islamabad.
The two leaders discussed the prevailing national political situation, regional developments and matters of mutual interest.
During the meeting, Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani emphasised the important role of the Senate as the representative forum of the federating units and a key pillar of Pakistan’s federal parliamentary system.
He said the Senate provides an effective platform for safeguarding the interests of provinces and promoting greater coordination and harmony among the federating units.
The Chairman Senate underscored the need for stronger coordination between Parliament and provincial assemblies to address issues through dialogue and consensus.
He said political stability, democratic continuity and respect for constitutional principles are essential for strengthening the federation and ensuring balanced development across the country.
