ISLAMABAD, Dec 25 (APP): The Chairman of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), Engineer Wasim Nazeer, on Thursday paid rich tributes to the founding father Muhammad Ali Jinnah and called upon Pakistan’s engineering community to fulfill his vision of a technologically advanced and prosperous nation.
In his message, the Chairman recalled the Quaid’s prescient words delivered at the All Pakistan Educational Conference in Karachi on November 27, 1947:
“There is an immediate and urgent need for training our people in scientific and technical education to build up our future economic life… we should see that our people undertake scientific commerce, trade and particularly, well-planned industries.”
The Chairman emphasized that engineering is omnipresent in modern society and serves as the backbone of national development. “Wherever you look, you will find Engineering,” he stated, underscoring that quality engineers are indispensable to Pakistan’s progress.
He outlined that engineers must embody strength of character, adhere to universal ethics, demonstrate professional excellence, and commit to hard work in their pursuit of national development.
Addressing the engineering community directly, the Chairman urged professionals to pursue quality in every aspect of their work. “To achieve excellence, we engineers will have to step out of our comfort zones. Only then will we be able to reach new horizons,” he said.
The Chairman also stressed the importance of keeping pace with rapidly emerging technologies, warning that “time waits for no one” in an era of accelerating technological change.
In his concluding remarks, the Chairman called for unity among engineers, urging them to support PEC’s initiatives and work collaboratively toward building a new and prosperous Pakistan.
The Pakistan Engineering Council is the statutory body responsible for regulating engineering education and practice in Pakistan, promoting professional standards, and advancing the engineering profession in the country.
