ISLAMABAD, Jun 24 (APP):Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC), Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed held yesterday a productive meeting with Dr. Lidia Borrell-Damián, Secretary General of Science Europe, alongside Dr. Salim Omar, Director of ICESCO’s Regional Office in Sharjah, and Dr. Muhammad Sharif, Director at ICESCO Headquarters.
According to official sources, discussions centred on the evolving landscape of higher education and the critical need to embed climate change as a strategic priority within academic and research frameworks—recognising it as a defining global challenge of our time.
Dr. Mukhtar explored concrete avenues for collaboration between HEC, Pakistani universities, and Science Europe, focusing on enhancing research capacity, fostering institutional linkages, and promoting international academic cooperation.
The Chairman HEC also highlighted that Pakistan has secured the highest number of Erasmus Mundus scholarships for the fourth consecutive year, reaffirming the excellence and global competitiveness of Pakistani students.
