ISLAMABAD, Jul 19 (APP):A proposed Celebrities Cricket League (CCL) is set to promote grassroots cricket and enhance youth engagement in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by providing aspiring players with a competitive platform alongside well-known public figures and digital creators.
Cricket has long remained a driving force for youth development in the province, offering opportunities for talent identification, teamwork and personal growth through local tournaments and community competitions. The proposed league seeks to build on that tradition by expanding participation in organised cricket.
Among those associated with the initiative is Muhammad Anas, a young entrepreneur and digital creator from Khyber District, who has been supporting youth-focused initiatives through digital platforms. Organisers believe his involvement will help connect young audiences with grassroots sports and encourage wider participation in cricket.
According to organisers, the tournament is being planned in collaboration with provincial authorities as part of broader efforts to strengthen organised cricket and create additional opportunities for emerging players across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The proposed competition is expected to feature six teams comprising local cricketers, digital creators and public personalities, with the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium being considered as the venue. The event is tentatively scheduled for October or November, subject to administrative approvals.
Organisers say the league is designed primarily to promote grassroots cricket, identify promising talent and encourage greater youth participation in sport. Community engagement activities are also expected to accompany the tournament.
If approved, the Celebrities Cricket League will add to the growing number of domestic cricket initiatives aimed at strengthening the sport’s development structure in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while providing young cricketers with increased exposure and competitive opportunities.
