ISLAMABAD, Sep 29 (APP): The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has stepped up its plantation and landscaping activities across Islamabad to improve the city’s green cover and enhance its natural beauty.
The drive is being carried out on the directions of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi under the supervision of CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf.
The authority’s Environment Wing is undertaking plantation and landscaping along major roads, green belts, parks, recreational facilities and other public spaces.
The CDA said the initiative aimed to preserve Islamabad’s green character, improve the urban environment and make the capital more attractive for residents and domestic and foreign tourists.
The authority has directed the relevant departments to ensure proper care of newly planted saplings and trees, with an emphasis on their survival and long-term growth rather than merely increasing plantation numbers.
The ongoing activities also include improving green belts, landscaping prominent locations and maintaining parks and public spaces.
According to the CDA, these measures are intended to improve the urban landscape, contribute to better air quality and provide residents with a healthier environment.
Residents have appreciated the plantation drive, particularly the planting of environment-friendly species, and called for sustained efforts to protect the capital’s green spaces.
The CDA said plantation, landscaping and environmental protection initiatives would continue to preserve Islamabad’s natural beauty and improve its green cover.
