ISLAMABAD, Sep 24 (APP):The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is planning to introduce electric double-decker buses on a dedicated sightseeing route linking more than 15 major recreational, scenic and heritage sites in Islamabad, a CDA spokesperson told APP on Thursday.
The proposed service is aimed at making it easier for residents and visitors, particularly families, students, senior citizens and people without private transport, to visit multiple attractions across the capital.
The spokesperson said the proposed circuit would cover major destinations including Lake View Park, Shakarparian, Pakistan Monument, Faisal Mosque, Daman-i-Koh and D-Chowk, besides other recreational and heritage sites.
The initiative would provide an organised sightseeing option for people wishing to explore the capital without having to arrange separate transport to different destinations, he added.
The buses would have a maximum capacity of 90 passengers, including 67 seats, while low-floor boarding facilities and dedicated wheelchair spaces would be provided to improve accessibility for persons with disabilities.
The CDA spokesperson said the buses would also be equipped with air-conditioning and modern braking, stability and suspension systems.
The electric buses, with zero tailpipe emissions, would combine sightseeing with environment-friendly transport, he said.
The proposed service is expected to provide an additional recreational transport option for residents of Islamabad and visitors from other parts of the country as well as foreign tourists.
The spokesperson said the CDA was working on the initiative to improve access to the capital’s recreational and heritage destinations and provide a modern sightseeing facility.
Details regarding fares, operating frequency, designated boarding points and the launch date have yet to be announced by the authority.
