CDA conducts gigantic operation against encroachment at Kashmir Highway

ISLAMABAD, Sep 8 (APP):Capital Development Authority (CDA) has conducted a gigantic operation against the encroachments and illegal construction on the right of way of Kashmir Highway and demolished many buildings, constructed illegally or against the violation CDA building regulations.
This anti-encroachment operation resulted in retrieval of several acre prime state land, said press release issued here on Saturday.
Member Estate, CDA Khushal Khan supervised the operation right from the beginning till evening while Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Hamza Shafqat, SSP Operations Najeeb Bagvi,  Director Enforcement Faheem Badshah, Director Building Control Section, Director Public Relations, officers of ICT Administration including Assistant Commissioners, officers of Islamabad Police and officers of concerned formations were also present on this occasion.
The operation was participated by more than around 350 officials of enforcement and other concerned formations while more than 300 police, ranger and counter terrorism force officials.
Heavy machinery of MPO Directorate and other formations were also utilized during the operation.
During the operation a double storey restaurant constructed illegally along the petrol pump was demolished. This restaurant was constructed against the CDA building regulations.
Marquees constructed illegally on several kanals of state land and against the building regulations were also demolished. The marquees which were razed during the operation include Venue Marquee, Anabia Marquee, Galaxy Marquee and two under construction marquees.
Similarly, a show room named Japan Motors, Crown Boys Hostel, One Dollar Shop, Sawat Shanwari, Mehfil Restaurant and Moon Restaurant were demolished.
Deputy Commissioner, Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat provided full assistance and played a vital role in making operation a success and help in arresting the 12 miscreants on interruption in official work.

It is pertinent to mention here that these encroachments were established on the right of way of Kashmir Highway or constructed against the building regulations.
The CDA was served notices several times to these illegal occupants to remove these encroachments voluntarily but they did not bother to remove these encroachments failing in doing so the operation under the supervision of member estate was conducted.
The operation against these encroachments and illegal constructions will remain continue till Sunday.
