ISLAMABAD, Dec 18 (APP): Mayor Islamabd and Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Sheikh Anser Aziz Sunday said the authority was cognizant of rising housing needs in the federal capital and steps were being taken to fill the housing deficit.
Visiting sectors C 14, C 15 and C 16, he said the CDA and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) formations were jointly operating to serve the purpose.
The mayor was accompanied by the CDA’s Member Engineering Shahid Sohail and Member Planning & Design Asad Mehboob Kiani, Deputy Mayor MCI Syed Zeshan Ali Naqvi and other relevant officers.
Taking notice of encroachments in Sector C 14, C 15 and C 16 he directed the formations concerned to make daily visits of the area to curb the encroachments by fencing acquired land and establishing check posts.
He said operations should be carried out regularly to retrieve the encroached land.
He directed that Land and Rehabilitation Directorate should establish its camp office there to resolve the issues of affected people amicably.
The mayor constituted a committee under the chairmanship of Deputy Mayor Azam Khan into the matter.
Sheikh Anser was briefed that the contract works worth Rs 383 million had been awarded for construction of roads.
He ensured the affected people to resolve their issues on priority.
The mayor requested the local people to play their due role for Islamabad’s development in collaboration with elected representatives.
The mayor also inspected the ongoing development work in Sector D 12 and directed to speedily conclude the construction.
