ISLAMABAD, Nov 08 (APP): Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, chaired a high-level meeting on Saturday to review progress on several mega development projects being planned in preparation for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit.
Officials briefed the meeting that the preparation of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for multiple major projects was in its final stages. It was informed that services of both national and international consultants of high repute would be engaged for the initial phase. Work is also under way on the preparation of PC-1 and PC-2 documents and the Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) of the projects.
Randhawa said that, in line with the vision of the Prime Minister and the Federal Minister for Interior, the CDA was launching mega projects to transform Islamabad into a world-class, modern city.
He directed that these projects be completed ahead of the next SCO Summit and other major international conferences.
“These projects are vital for strengthening Islamabad’s capacity to host major global events while enhancing the capital’s beauty and infrastructure,” he said.
Emphasising transparency, the CDA Chairman instructed that all project procedures follow open and competitive processes. “There must be no compromise on quality standards,” he said, adding that all work must conform to international benchmarks.
Randhawa further directed that the preparation of PC-1s and the tendering process for the mega projects be accelerated to enable their formal commencement next year.
He said the timely completion of these initiatives would help make Islamabad a hub for international conferences, tourism, and diplomatic activities.
“All available resources are being utilised to make the Federal Capital one of the world’s leading and most exemplary capitals,” he added.
The meeting was attended by CDA Board Members — Member Administration Talat Mahmood, Member Finance Tahir Naeem, Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza, Member Planning and Design Dr Khalid Hafiz, and Member Environment Esfandyar Baloch — along with other senior officials.
