CDA chief meets Nepali envoy, discuss sister-city plan

ISLAMABAD, Jan 27 (APP): Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa on Tuesday met Nepal’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Rita Dhital, at the CDA Headquarters, where matters of mutual interest, including ways to further strengthen bilateral relations, were discussed.

The meeting was also attended by CDA Member Administration Talat Mahmood and senior officials.

Randhawa said Pakistan attached great importance to its relations with Nepal and described the two countries as friendly nations with longstanding ties.

Ambassador Dhital praised the beauty and urban planning of Islamabad, particularly appreciating the role of the CDA in preserving the capital’s natural environment. She said the city’s green spaces and numerous parks contributed to a peaceful and pleasant atmosphere.

The CDA chairman said the authority was strictly following the Islamabad Master Plan to ensure the protection and expansion of the city’s green cover.

The two sides also discussed a proposal to declare Islamabad and Kathmandu as sister cities. The Nepali envoy said work on a draft agreement in this regard was under way.

Issues related to the plot allocated for the Nepali Embassy in the Diplomatic Enclave were also reviewed. Mr Randhawa assured the ambassador of full cooperation from the CDA in this regard.

The meeting was also briefed on ongoing measures for the beautification and uplift of the Diplomatic Enclave.

The CDA chairman said this was among the authority’s priorities and invited the Nepali ambassador to participate in the upcoming spring tree plantation campaign.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen cooperation at the civic level.
