ISLAMABAD, May 17 (APP):Digital payment systems are witnessing strong growth nationwide as more youth and consumers move away from cash and embrace cashless transactions, fueled by easy access to smartphones, banking apps and digital wallets, reflecting a broader transformation in the country’s financial habits.
          The trend is becoming increasingly visible across both urban retail outlets and local markets, as consumers prefer fast, secure and convenient cashless options over traditional cash transactions.
          From branded stores and shopping malls to small grocery shops, merchants are rapidly adopting digital payment systems, reflecting a broader shift toward financial digitization and a modern consumer economy.
          Customers with various media reports have also welcomed the shift, with many saying that digital payments have made shopping easier and more efficient.
            They noted that carrying cash is no longer necessary, as mobile wallets and banking apps allow quick transactions, while also improving safety and record-keeping during daily purchases.
                  Aamir Ibrahim, Chief Executive Officer of Jazz, also expressed confidence in the growing digital ecosystem and appreciated the collaboration between government and private sector stakeholders, stating that supportive policies are helping accelerate financial inclusion and the expansion of cashless transactions across the country.
               He highlighted the importance of digital payment solutions such as QR code systems and mobile wallets, describing them as key tools driving convenience, transparency and efficiency in everyday financial activities.
                  Salon workers said the shift to digital payments has made their daily transactions easier and more convenient, as QR codes and mobile wallets allow quick and hassle-free payments without the need for cash handling.
           Brand shop owners appreciated the trend, stating that it has improved customer experience by saving time and reducing dependence on long bank queues, making shopping more efficient and modern.
           Grocery store owners also welcomed the cashless system, noting that instant digital payments have simplified business operations and made daily sales smoother, faster, and more reliable.
             On the other hand, Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani also backed the growing shift toward digital transactions, stating that the government’s agenda is firmly focused on building a cashless economy.
               He described it as a national priority, emphasizing that the country is steadily moving forward in the race toward digital financial transformation with strong policy support and institutional backing.
