Gilgit, Jan 23 (APP): Caretaker Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan Justice (R) Yar Muhammad has directed all relevant departments to remain on high alert in view of the ongoing spell of rain and snowfall across the region.
According to a statement issued here Friday, the chief minister instructed the Gilgit-Baltistan Disaster Management Authority (GBDMA), Rescue 1122, district administrations, the Communication and Works Department, the Power Department, the Health Department and other concerned institutions to ensure timely measures for the protection of human lives and the clearance of snow from highways and key roads.
He specifically directed the GBDMA and the district administration of Gojal to utilize all available resources to ensure the provision of relief to earthquake-affected people and to minimize the difficulties being faced by them due to heavy snowfall.
The chief minister reaffirmed that the government stands with the earthquake victims and will ensure their maximum possible assistance and rehabilitation.
