Bureaucrats’ performance to improve their perception in public: Zartaj Gul

ISLAMABAD, Dec 9 (APP):Minister of State for Climate Change Zartaj Gul Monday said bureaucrats should understand that their public perception would improve through their performance.
She made these remarks at the crowning ceremony of “Integrity Icons” organized by Accountability Lab for acknowledging the honest and government officials working across the country with integrity and self-accountability.
She said, “Integrity Icons means increased level of accountability and expectation among the masses. The civil servants have become a role model after being declared as Integrity Icon with huge responsibility. The Civil Service of Pakistan (CSP) officers are among the cream of our country.”
Zartaj said the CSP officers had been politicized in the country, however, Prime Minister Imran Khan had his clear vision to appoint all competent and experienced bureaucrats at their respective senior posts despite any propaganda made against them for serving in close coordination in the previous governments.
“I am proud that Prime Minister Imran Khan and the federal cabinet have made this principle to curtail the role of supervising bureaucrats to spoil the annual confidential reports of their subordinate CSP officers, hence giving them space to deliver without any fear and pressure,” he added.
The minister said the police force in Punjab and Sindh had been politicized where the behavior of police officials was really important for ensuring good public service and encourage the masses to trust them as their custodians.
“Prime Minister Imran Khan has the dream to end corruption, repatriate looted national exchequers’ money, strengthen institutions and ensure no intervention of departments’ in one another’s affairs,” Zartaj Gul said.
“Bureaucrats should realize that if they have joined the civil service with the aim to serve the nation then they will have to deliver. You do not have to cut ribbons like politicians rather have to perform your duties with sincerity. Politicians are the force leading from the front and you are the force behind us at the secondary level to run the system of state,” the minister added.
Zartaj delivered the Integrity Icon award to Director Excise and Taxation Lahore Rizwan Akram Sherwani and also appreciated Secretary Regional Transport Authority Balochistan Rohana Gul Kakar for her best services despite facing gender biases in her department.
The integrity icons also included SSP Khairpur Umair Tufail, Independent Monitoring Unit Khyber Paktunkhwa DMO Imran Zia and Zahid Ali Khan MS WAPDA Hospital Mangla.
Accountability Lab an international non-governmental organization had initiated the Integrity Icon movement through public awareness, advocacy, online sources and media to celebrate and encourage sincere and committed CSP officers.
The head of Accountability Lab gave token of thanks to the minister of state for climate change Zartaj Gul.
