Budget designed to boost jobs, exports and relief for salaried class: Musadik Malik

ISLAMABAD, Jun 12 (APP): Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Dr. Musadik Malik on Friday said the Budget 2026–27 has been designed to provide relief to the salaried class, support agriculture and small businesses, strengthen the IT sector and boost exports to create jobs and improve living standards.
Speaking on the budget, he said the government has delivered on its commitment to stabilise the economy and place it on a growth path despite challenges, including regional tensions, economic pressures and the impact of recent devastating floods.
He said the country is now moving towards growth and prosperity, with a focus on business expansion and exports to generate employment and support families.
The Minister said the budget includes measures to increase salaries and the minimum wage, along with a reduction in the tax burden on salaried individuals, who contribute significantly to national revenue through direct deductions.
He said those who comply with tax laws deserve relief, adding that the government has taken concrete steps in this regard to ease financial pressure on households.
Highlighting the agriculture sector, he said substantial allocations have been made to improve productivity, while banks will be encouraged to extend financing to farmers, especially small growers, to help increase output and incomes.
He said funding has also been allocated for logistics, storage and transport infrastructure, as well as agriculture-related businesses to strengthen the rural economy and promote value addition.
In urban areas, he said support for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) has been prioritised to help skilled youth start businesses and generate income through entrepreneurship.
He said the SME sector will play a key role in promoting grassroots economic activity and self-employment across the country.
He added that the budget also encourages young people to move beyond traditional job markets and pursue entrepreneurship through new opportunities.
On the IT sector, the minister said continued policy support and tax facilitation have been provided to sustain growth in the digital economy and expand Pakistan’s participation in global markets.
He said young graduates will be able to work remotely for international clients, earn foreign exchange, and contribute to the national economy while remaining in the country.
Dr. Malik said the government’s broader strategy combines agriculture, SMEs, IT expansion, logistics improvement and export promotion to drive economic activity and accelerate GDP growth.
He added that measures have also been introduced to facilitate export financing and rationalise taxes for exporters to improve competitiveness in global markets.
He expressed confidence that these initiatives will create jobs, increase exports and improve living standards, particularly for middle- and lower-income groups.
He said the ultimate goal of the economic agenda is to enable citizens to educate their children, support their families and achieve a better quality of life through sustainable growth.
He reiterated that the government’s priority is to promote balanced development in both urban and rural areas to ensure long-term economic stability.
