Brother killing sister reflects grave moral decay: SC

ISLAMABAD, Apr 09 (APP):The Supreme Court of Pakistan has observed that a brother killing his sister is not merely a criminal act but a manifestation of serious moral degeneration.
The court on Thursday issued a detailed written judgment rejecting the appeal of convict Muhammad Munawar and upholding his life imprisonment in a case involving the murder of his sister.
The judgment, authored by Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim, stated that the prosecution had successfully proved the case against the accused.
According to the judgment, Muhammad Munawar was charged with murdering his sister in 2013 in Faisalabad.
The prosecution maintained that the accused shot his sister in the forehead over resentment regarding her choice of marriage.
The court noted that the incident was promptly reported to the police, eliminating the possibility of deliberation or fabrication. It further observed that the testimonies of eyewitnesses were fully consistent with the medical evidence and forensic report.
After reviewing all the evidence, the Supreme Court dismissed the convict’s appeal and upheld his life sentence.
