British deputy commander lauds Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts

ISLAMABAD, July 13 (APP): British Deputy Commander Lt. Gen. Sandy Storrie on Wednesday appreciated Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism and assured the United Kingdom’s continued support in this regard.

During a meeting with Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi, the two sides exchanged views on regional security and the ways to improve it.

The SAPM apprised the Commander of Operation Resolute Support the continuous positive trajectory of Pakistan-UK bilateral relations.

Both sides expressed satisfaction on the ongoing defence cooperation between the two countries.

The SAPM hoped that the current constructive and close collaboration in bilateral defence and security matters would be strengthened in the coming years.

He appreciated the UK’s assistance in counter-terrorism and reaffirmed commitment to working in partnership against shared threats.

He said Pakistan had made significant strides in the struggle against terrorism through Operation Zarb-e-Azb which was in its final stages.

The SAPM briefed the British Deputy Commander about the Prime Minister’s vision of a peaceful neighborhood and the many initiatives taken by him in this regard.

He extended warm felicitations on the nomination of Theresa May as the next leader of the conservative Party and as the new Prime Minister of Great Britain and expressed confidence that Pak-UK relations would be enhanced under her leadership.
