ISLAMABAD, Oct 24 (APP):Chairman Senate, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Friday said that brands form the backbone of a nation’s economy and global image, serving not only as drivers of economic growth but also as vital tools of economic diplomacy.
While addressing the 16th Annual Brands of the Year Awards ceremony, the Chairman Senate said that Pakistani brands are steadily establishing their identity on the international stage, playing a crucial role in projecting a positive image of Pakistan.
He noted that through achievements in sports, IT, industry, and services, Pakistani brands are strengthening the country’s global reputation.
He underlined that a successful brand is the product of sustained research, innovation, design, and effective marketing.
Addressing the youth, he said that Pakistan’s new generation possesses creativity, technological knowledge, and determination — the key elements needed to lead the country towards a Brand Power Economy.
Gilani observed that Pakistani brands are gaining prominence in international markets due to their integrity, quality, and creativity. Referring to the rapid rise of the digital economy, he said that even young entrepreneurs from smaller cities and rural areas are now connected to global markets through e-commerce and digital platforms.
Highlighting the government’s role, he stated that the role of the state is not to interfere in business but to create an enabling environment where trade, investment, and industry can flourish. “It is our responsibility to build both physical and digital infrastructure that helps our youth turn their dreams into reality,” he remarked.
The Chairman further noted that in today’s world, the foundation of developed economies lies not merely in agriculture, industry, or services, but in the global recognition of their brands. “A product is what you sell, but a brand is why the consumer chooses to buy it,” he said, stressing that Pakistani brands must prioritize quality and trust over price to achieve sustainable success in international markets.
He added that whenever a Pakistani brand succeeds globally — whether in sports goods, IT services, or fashion — it becomes the face of Pakistan, enhancing the country’s reputation and strengthening economic diplomacy.
The Chairman lauded the Brands Foundation for its significant contribution in promoting brand culture and business excellence in Pakistan.
He congratulated the award-winning companies and entrepreneurs, calling them architects of a confident, dynamic, and economically resilient Pakistan.
The event concluded with the distribution of awards among outstanding brands and companies from various industrial and commercial sectors.
The ceremony was attended by prominent figures from Pakistan’s industry, commerce, IT, media, and business communities.
