FAISALABAD, Aug 20 (APP): Dr Nedim Makarevic, Ambassador of Bosnia, has said that Bosnia and Pakistan must invest in education to bring about qualitative socio-economic change in their societies.

He was addressing a cultural show, organised by the Bosnian embassy in Pakistan at a local hotel here Friday night.

He expressed his concerns at poor literacy rate in Pakistan, saying that it was a main cause of poverty and illiteracy in the Muslim countries.

He said his country wanted to play a role in improving literacy rate in Pakistan. In this regard, it had initially selected Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) for establishment of schools for girls. He said his country was also focusing on rural areas of Punjab where female literacy rate was very poor.

Two Bosnian female artistes played piano and violin, along with the musicians of the local hotel.

The function was also addressed by Chaudhry Muhammad Nawaz, president of the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI), former president FCCI Engineer Suhail Bin Rasheed, Sheikh Abdul Qayyum, executive members Hajji Muhammad Idrees, Rana Sikandar Azam, former vice-president Shahid Ahmed Sheikh, Chaudhry Muhammad Asgher and Ahmed Hussain.
