BISP, Pakistan Post join hands for digital payment solutions

ISLAMABAD, Jun 16 (APP): The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and Pakistan Post have agreed to collaborate on introducing digital payment solutions aimed at enhancing the efficiency and security of stipend disbursements to BISP beneficiaries across the country.

Chairperson BISP, Senator Rubina Khalid, met with Director General Pakistan Post, Samiullah Khan, at BISP Headquarters on Monday to discuss modalities for launching a pilot project based on biometric verification.

The initiative seeks to facilitate over 10 million beneficiaries with convenient and secure digital payment options.

During the meeting, it was decided that technical teams from both organizations would soon convene to assess system integration possibilities and move forward with the pilot phase.

Chairperson Rubina Khalid underlined the importance of the collaboration in expanding financial inclusion and ensuring timely assistance to deserving families. “Our goal is to simplify the payment process while ensuring transparency and accessibility, particularly in remote areas,” she stated.

DG Pakistan Post Samiullah Khan expressed full support and proposed continuous technical consultations to streamline the process.

He also highlighted the role of Pakistan Post in extending postal and financial services to rural communities.

The meeting further discussed the sharing of updated contact details of beneficiaries and the potential role of Pakistan Post in supplementing outreach efforts in under-served areas.

The session was attended by Director General Conditional Transfers BISP, DG NSER, CTO BISP, and senior officials from Pakistan Post.
