ISLAMABAD, Oct 4 (APP): The National Commission on the Status of Women bill 2016 was moved in the National Assembly on Tuesday to further amend the National Commission on the Status of Women Act, 2012.
Four members including Nikhat Shakeel Khan, Muhammad Muzzamil Qureshi, Saman Sultana Jaferi and Sheikh Salahuddin moved the amendment bill in the House.
Speaking on the bill, mover Nikhat Shakeel Khan said the main purpose of the bill was to pave the way to work for rights of women in the country.
She said the National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) did not has any Chairperson for the last eight months.
Khalida Mansoor said that it was proposed in the bill that new chairman will be appointed within 30 days after the expiry of the previous one.
Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq suggested that rather the new chairman of NCSW should be appointed during the service of the previous chairman.
Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed requested the chair to refer the bill to the concerned committee for further deliberations.
Meanwhile, MNA Parveen Masood Bhatti on behalf of Rana Muhammad Hayat Khan Chairman Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat presented a report of the Standing Committee on the Un-attended Orphans (Rehabilitation and Welfare) bill 2016 in the House.
