PESHAWAR, Feb 20 (APP): Irrefutable evidence has emerged of the use of Afghan territory in terrorism against Pakistan, as the suicide attacker who carried out the attack on the Malangi Post in Bajaur on February 16, 2026, has been identified as an Afghan national.
The suicide attacker was identified as Khariji Ahmad, alias Qari Abdullah Abu Zar, a resident of Balkh province, Afghanistan, and reportedly a former member of the Taliban’s Special Forces.
As many as 11 security personnel and two innocent civilians embraced martyrdom in the suicide attack. The incident further exposed the growing involvement of Afghan nationals in terrorist activities within Pakistan, pointing to the Afghan Taliban regime’s active support and facilitation of such elements.
For some time, the links of terrorist incidents in Pakistan have been traced across the border. On February 6, 2026, the suicide bomber who carried out an attack in Tarlai, Islamabad, had also received training in Afghanistan. Similarly, the terrorists involved in the attack on the Islamabad Judicial Complex in October 2025 and the FC Headquarters in Peshawar in November 2025 were also Afghan nationals.
Furthermore, a captured suicide bomber from South Waziristan in October 2025, identified as Nematullah, hailed from Afghanistan’s Kandahar province.
According to security experts, the Afghan Taliban regime’s support for terrorist organizations clearly indicates that terrorists have access to safe havens in Afghanistan. More than 70 percent of those involved in terrorist incidents in Pakistan are Afghan nationals.
The Afghan Taliban regime’s conduct and continued support for terrorist elements have consistently undermined peace efforts.
