Baidarie,LPDI Signs MoU to train 50 women in Sialkot’s leather sector

SIALKOT, Feb 21 (APP):In a move aimed at strengthening women’s economic participation in Sialkot’s export-driven leather sector, Baidarie on Saturday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Leather Products Development Institute (LPDI) to deliver certified technical training for women.
The agreement was signed under the project “Catalyzing Growth for Women Economic Empowerment in District Sialkot (Punjab) Pakistan,”supported by UN Women Pakistan.
The initiative will provide a two-month certified training program in Gloves Stitching and Pattern Designing to 50 women and girls in the district.
Officials said the training was designed to align with market demands and industry standards of Sialkot’s globally recognized leather and gloves sector.
The program aims to enhance participants’ employ-ability,strengthen their technical skills and create pathways for entrepreneurship and sustainable income generation.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Hina Noureen,Vice President(VP) of Baidarie;Matloob Ahmed Qureshi, Senior Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Gloves Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PGMEA) and LPDI;Rana Amjad Hussain, Programme Manager at LPDI; Asif Raza, Project Manager at Baidarie; and Usman Ismail Butt, Secretary General of PGMEA.
Representatives from both organizations reaffirmed their commitment to promoting inclusive growth and strengthening institutional collaboration to expand women’s access to certified,industry-linked technical training opportunities in Sialkot.
