Azhar Jadoon for enhanced media role in highlighting Kashmir

ISLAMABAD, Jul 24 (APP): Dr Azhar Jadoon, member National Assembly Standing Committee on Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage on Sunday called for enhanced Pakistani media role in highlighting Kashmir issue.

Talking to APP here, the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf MNA Dr Azhar Jadoon said the role of media on Kashmir issue can be enhanced through objective, effective and up-to-date Kashmir policy. He said that “Kashmir policy is being run on ad-hoc basis.”

“The ordinary citizens have no idea about our foreign policy nor its objectives”, he said. He said that Kashmir needed focus and attention on political front as it is not given proper attention.

Azhar Jadoon thought that the role of Parliament on Kashmir was not very satisfactory due to the fact that it has remained one of the less debated matters in the House.

Strongly condemning Indian army for genocide of the Kashmir masses, he urged the international community to play its due role in stopping gross human rights violations at the hands of Indian occupation forces.

To a question, he said that the term national media was not relevant for Pakistan as there are two types of media in the country, one run by the government and other governed by the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA).

He was of the opinion that both kinds of media follow the specific guidelines.

About the issues of his constituency NA-17 Abbotabad-I, Dr Azhar said no funds were being provided to him as MNA for resolution of these problems.

About health and education issues in his constituency, he said that despite constraint of financial resources the Khyber Pakhtunkhaw government was taking steps in this regard.
