Ayesha Raza urges parents to ensure polio vaccination
ISLAMABAD, Sep 22 (APP):Prime Minister’s Focal Person for Polio Eradication Ayesha Raza Farooq has urged parents to ensure that all children under five years of age receive polio drops during the ongoing Sub-National Polio Campaign.
The campaign, being conducted from September 21 to 27 in 115 selected districts, aims to vaccinate more than 31 million children across the country.
Ayesha Raza Farooq said the decline in positive environmental samples was encouraging, but the risk of poliovirus transmission had not been completely eliminated.
“As long as the poliovirus exists anywhere, we must ensure that every child has access to the polio vaccine,” she said.
She appreciated the efforts of polio workers who, despite challenging circumstances, were going door-to-door to protect children from the crippling disease.
The focal person urged parents to cooperate with vaccination teams and ensure that children up to five years of age receive the prescribed polio drops.
She also appealed to religious scholars, media representatives, community leaders and parents to extend their full support to the campaign, stressing that protecting every child from polio was a national responsibility.
