Ayaz Sadiq vows to ensure supremacy of Parliament, promote democracy

ISLAMABAD, Nov 9 (APP): Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq
Monday vowed to ensure supremacy of the Parliament and promote democratic norms in the country.
In his first speech after being re-elected as the Speaker National
Assembly, Ayaz Sadiq termed his win as victory of the democracy and Parliament. “It is not my victory, but the victory of democracy and Parliament,” he remarked.
The speaker Sadiq underlined the need for defending the democracy and
upholding supremacy of the law and constitution in a more effective manner for the betterment of the country.
Ayaz Sadiq urged the parliamentarians to sit together for defending the
constitution and democracy and work for strengthning of the Parliament.
He lauded the efforts of Business Advisory Committee and said that it
would be made more effective by incorporating useful opinions of all the parties.
The speaker said that the Kashmir was very near to the heart of every
parliamentarian so a comprehensive way forward would be devised to promote this cause.
He called for promoting right to information and freedom of speech,
advising media persons to project the soft image of Pakistan through their reporting.
Ayaz Sadiq expressed the hope that the parliamentarians would guide him
in running business of the House and upholding rule of law and the constitution.
He thanked the political parties that voted in his favour and also those
who participated in the election of NA Speaker.
Earlier, Ayaz Sadiq while taking oath of the office pledged loyalty to
the country and constitution. Acting Speaker Murtaza Javed Abbasi administered the oath to the newly elected speaker.
