ISLAMABAD, Nov 12 (APP):Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Wednesday offered the opposition his full support in initiating dialogue with the government, stressing his readiness to mediate between both sides for the sake of parliamentary harmony.
Responding to remarks by Mahmood Khan Achakzai during the National Assembly session, the Speaker recalled that the Prime Minister had repeatedly extended offers for talks on the floor of the House, while the Law Minister had also urged the opposition to engage in dialogue.
“As Speaker, it is my responsibility to bring the government and the opposition to the negotiating table. I will extend complete assistance to make this happen,” he said.
Reacting to Achakzai’s claim that he was not elected through the people’s votes, Ayaz Sadiq replied, “I have defeated your leader (PTI founder) twice, and there is no election petition pending against me. Making such remarks only reflects an unwillingness to engage in dialogue.”
