ISLAMABAD, Jan 28 (APP):Speaker of National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq Wednesday extended heartfelt congratulations to all newly elected office-bearers of the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ) on their success in the annual elections 2026.
In a message, the Speaker congratulated Asif Bashir Chaudhry on his election as President, Tauseef Abbasi and Rasheed Malik as Vice Presidents, Bashir Usmani as General Secretary, and Izhar Khan Niazi as Finance Secretary.
He also felicitated Raja Imran Janjua and Rana Farhan Aslam on their election as Joint Secretaries, along with all newly elected members of the Executive Council.
Ayaz Sadiq expressed his best wishes for the success of the newly elected RIUJ leadership and appreciated the union’s continued role in safeguarding press freedom and protecting journalists’ rights.
He expressed confidence that the newly elected leadership would play an effective role in promoting the welfare of journalists and strengthening responsible journalism.
The Speaker said that the unopposed election of all RIUJ office-bearers reflects unity within the journalistic community.
He further emphasized that strong and constructive relations between Parliament and the journalist community are essential for the strengthening of democratic values in the country.
