Awn Chaudhry hails WWF’s record revenue, seeks stronger reforms
ISLAMABAD, Sep 09 (APP):Minister of State for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Muhammad Awn Chaudhry on Wednesday visited the Workers Welfare Fund (WWF) Secretariat in Islamabad, where he reviewed the fund’s administrative affairs, welfare projects and facilities for industrial workers and their families, hailed its record revenue collection and called for stronger reforms to improve transparency and service delivery.
WWF Secretary Zulfiqar Ahmed and senior officials received the minister and briefed him on the institution’s ongoing welfare initiatives, including education, housing and other facilities being provided to workers and their families.
Mr Chaudhry congratulated the secretary and his team on achieving record revenue collection, describing it as a significant achievement and appreciating the overall performance of the institution.
The minister said the government was taking practical measures to improve the quality of life of the working class through worker-friendly policies, quality education for workers’ children, residential facilities and other welfare initiatives.
He attributed the increased focus on workers’ welfare to the present government’s policies and the efforts of Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain.
Mr Chaudhry also appreciated the WWF’s efforts to digitalise its systems, saying the transition to modern technology would enhance transparency, expedite service delivery and strengthen monitoring of welfare programmes.
He particularly praised the fund’s cashless policy, saying it had promoted transparency and merit while making the delivery of welfare facilities easier, safer and more effective for workers and their families.
The minister described the digitalisation and cashless system as an example of modern governance in the public sector and stressed the importance of sustaining such reforms.
He said the WWF was committed to implementing the policies and vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and that all available resources were being utilised for the welfare and well-being of workers.
Mr Chaudhry said the government would continue efforts to protect workers’ rights and provide them with maximum welfare facilities, while taking all necessary measures to make the WWF a more effective, transparent and modern institution.
Mr Zulfiqar Ahmed thanked the minister for his visit and reaffirmed the WWF’s commitment to performing its responsibilities for workers and their families in a more effective manner. At the conclusion of the visit, the WWF secretary presented a commemorative shield to the minister.
