ATC extends interim bail of Hafiz Farhat Abbas in four May 9 cases
LAHORE, Jun 30 (APP):An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday extended the interim pre-arrest bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPA Hafiz Farhat Abbas until July 9 in four cases related to the May 9 riots, including the attacks on Jinnah House and Askari Tower.
ATC Judge Manzer Ali Gill heard the bail petitions. Hafiz Farhat Abbas appeared before the court to mark his attendance in compliance with the interim bail orders.
During the hearing, the prosecution sought time to produce the case record, submitting that it had already been placed before the Lahore High Court. Accepting the request, the court extended the interim bail until July 9.
The PTI MPA had sought pre-arrest bail, stating that he feared arrest in the cases. Besides the Jinnah House and Askari Tower attack cases, he has also sought interim bail in two other cases pertaining to the alleged torching of police vehicles near the Jinnah House Chowk during the May 9 unrest.
