ATC adjourns May 9 Mughalpura police vehicles burning case till Jan 22

LAHORE, Jan 21 (APP):An anti-terrorism court (ATC)  on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of a case related to the burning of police vehicles during the May 9 incident in Mughalpura, till January 22.
ATC Administrative Judge Manzer Ali Gill, presided over the hearing at Kot Lakhpat Jail, where attendance of both bail-granted and incarcerated accused was completed.
During the proceedings, defence counsels concluded cross-examination on the statements of eight prosecution witnesses. The magistrate who conducted the identification parade appeared before the court and was also cross-examined by defence lawyers regarding the identification process.
The court adjourned further proceedings until Thursday.
It is pertinent to mention here that statements of all 38 prosecution witnesses have already been recorded, while final cross-examination by defence counsels is underway.
The under-trial detainees include PTI leaders Dr Yasmin Rashid, Umar Sarfaraz Cheema, Ejaz Chaudhry, Mian Mahmoodur Rashid, and others. The accused are charged with inciting party workers to rebellion and riots during the May 9 unrest.
