Ashrafi hails PM Shehbaz’s UN address, says it reflects sentiments of Pakistani nation, Muslim world
ISLAMABAD, Sep 26 (APP):Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council and Secretary-General of the International Tazeem-e-Haramain Sharifain Council Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi has welcomed Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s address to the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, saying it reflected the sentiments of the Pakistani nation, the Muslim world, Palestinians and all those who hold the Haramain Sharifain in deep reverence.
Ashrafi said the Prime Minister had clearly presented Pakistan’s longstanding position on Palestine, Kashmir and the security and sanctity of Saudi Arabia’s holy sites before the international community.
He said Pakistan stood with the Palestinian people and the people of Kashmir and regarded the security, defence and stability of the Haramain Sharifain as a matter of fundamental importance.
Ashrafi said the Prime Minister, while addressing the UN General Assembly in New York on Friday, strongly condemned recent Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia and said any threat to the safety and sanctity of the Haramain Sharifain was a “red line that must never be crossed.” He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with the Saudi people.
Ashrafi said Pakistan remained committed to its principled positions and would continue to articulate them at international forums.
He stressed that regardless of the source of any threat, Pakistan could not accept actions directed against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the sanctity of Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Madinah Al-Munawwarah or the security of the Two Holy Mosques.
He also welcomed the Prime Minister’s reaffirmation of Pakistan’s support for Saudi Arabia, adding that the UN address had underscored the importance Pakistan attaches to the Kingdom’s sovereignty and security.
Ashrafi said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also clarified in his UN address that the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement among Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye was not directed against any country, but represented a collective commitment to defence, stability and peace in the region.
Ashrafi, on behalf of the Pakistan Ulema Council and the International Tazeem-e-Haramain Sharifain Council, expressed appreciation to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for presenting these positions before the international community.
He said the Prime Minister’s remarks reflected the importance attached by Pakistan to the protection of the sanctity of the Two Holy Mosques and to solidarity with peoples facing conflict and suffering.
Ashrafi prayed that Allah Almighty would protect Pakistan, its people, Saudi Arabia, the Haramain Sharifain and all Muslim countries, and grant peace, security and stability to the Muslim world.
