Around 506,247 workers registered for overseas employment in last seven months, NA told

ISLAMABAD, Nov 21 (APP): Around 506,247 workers were registered for overseas employment through the Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment (BE&OE), Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resources in last seven months from April 2022 to November 2022.

Replying to the question of Ms Aliya Kamran, Parliamentary Secretary for Overseas Pakistanis & Human Resource Development Agha Rafiullah told National Assembly during question hour that from out of 506,247 registered workers, as many as 341,786 workers were registered through Overseas Employment Promoters (OEPs) and 164,461 workers through director employment.

He said the selection of the workers for employment abroad was carried out by the foreign employers themselves.

The ministry was in process of signing bilateral labour agreement with various countries including Germany, Romania, Portugal, Denmark, Hungry, Italy, Belgium, Iran, Libya and Lebanon for exporting Pakistani workforce. As many as 46,000 workers had been sent to Qatar this year, he added.

Replying to the question of Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali, he said to facilitate Pakistan workers, six Community Welfare Attaches (CWAs) were appointed in Pakistan mission, Saudi Arabia and 3 CWAs in United Arab Emirates (UAE) to resolve the issues of overseas Pakistanis in host countries. If found involved in exploitation of Pakistani emigrants, the found employer was blacklisted for future recruitment from Pakistan.
